UMX
UMX is a blend of academics, leadership, learning, networking, and community building. This unique, one-credit course will allow you to connect with important contacts, learn more about what the University of Miami has to offer, and form new friendships. This is your first step toward success in college. What you learn in UMX will take you through your time at University of Miami and beyond. Research shows that students who take UMX have a higher G.P.A., are more successful, and have a more rewarding college experience.

This one-credit elective course is taught by University of Miami faculty, administrators, and advisors across different disciplines as a way of providing mentoring to incoming students. The objective is to help new students transition to college life while introducing them to the many services offered by the University of Miami and in the surrounding community. UMX 100 provides a firsthand experience in utilizing UM resources necessary for success in college and beyond. Specifically, students will be exposed to campus leadership opportunities, academic and career planning, university traditions, study abroad opportunities, personal wellness programs, as well as advising and registration. UMX 100 meets once a week for 50 minutes.
